I haven't looked at the wiki yet, but a few things I've found when running a
backend on your main desktop/workstation...

Where to set mythfrontend to run in a window.

How to launch mythfrontend as mythtv when you're logged in.
                  (xhost + ; sudo -H -u mythtv mythfrontend)

Importance of double checking job status before rebooting.
