Many have noticed that the Internal DVD player and XvMC are not the best 
of friends. This is a frustrating situation for those of us who need 
XvMC to play HD content -- you end up having to use an external player 
for DVDs.

There is a workaround. If you set 'UseXvMCForHDOnly' to '1' for your 
frontend, and have your 'PreferredMPEG2Decoder' set to 'xvmc', you will 
get ffmpeg as your decoder for all content < 720 lines...

There is no GUI for 'UseXvMCForHDOnly'; you have to set the database 
values yourself.

Also, please, only enable this _after_ you have XvMC working 
correctly... Otherwise your problems will become harder to diagnose.

I hope this helps; I was quite pleased to reduce my dependence on XvMC 
and gain access to the Internal DVD player (it rocks! no more lircrc 
mismatches).
