Here are some timings from a 3 gig copy from nas to local
and local to local.  My NAS uses Gigabit Jumbo frames.

[root at fw tmp]# time cp /nas/store/1014_20060921190000.mpg /tmp
real    2m41.321s
user    0m0.124s
sys     0m23.213s

[root at fw tmp]# time cp /tmp/1014_20060921190000.mpg  /opt
real    4m2.540s
user    0m0.140s
sys     0m18.189s

with the dual I/O on the local/local copy really slows things down.
