[mythtv-users] Adding the Day of Week to the EPG

Im using the Titivillus theme and want to add the shortened Day of week identifier to the EPG. I would thinkg its just a matter of modifying the ui.xml to change the section that says :

     <container name="date_info">
      <area>20,185,115,25</area>
      <textarea name="date" draworder="4" align="center">
         <font>info</font>
         <area>0,0,115,25</area>
         <cutdown>no</cutdown>
      </textarea>
    </container>

to instead have some flag to show what day it is (Mon,Tue,Wed ...). In looking at the screen there should in fact be room to have both the day and date. 

Unfortunately I have no idea if :
1 - I am looking in the right spot
2 - if there is an easier way to do this 
3 - if its really possible without recoding myth to recognize a new textarea name.

Am i doing this correctly or is there a better way to customize the GUI?
