Andy,
The problem is with ivtv and not myth tv.  Your pvr-500 has a Samsung
tuner.  There were issues with this particular model which have been cleared
up.  The only way to get the fix is to either use the 2.6.18 kernel along
with ivtv 0.8 or use a kernel <= 2.6.15 and ivtv 0.4.3 - 0.4.7.
