I had the same request back in footnote two of
<URL:http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/208553#208553>.
I am glad to say that 0.20 addressed the request:

* Go to Manage Recordings|Schedule Recordings|Custom Record.
* Read <URL:http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-12.html> to
  understand how custom record rules work.
* Create a custom record rule. Name it. "Test" it.
* Once satisfied, "Store" it. The rule will now appear in the dropdown
  list of sample rules just under the Rule Name: box.

Now, if your wife wants to run the rule you just created, she should:
* Go to Manage Recordings|Schedule Recordings|Custom Record.
* Select the custom rule in the dropdown list, then "Add this example
  clause."
* "Test" it. This runs the rule as a search (i.e., without
  automatically planning to record every single recording it pulls
  up). The '2' button will likely be useful with the results as it
  collapse duplicate results into name; if you haven't already
  discovered the benefits of the UPCOMING button
  (<URL:http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/keys.txt>), this is the time to do
  so.
* Exit the list of results, then the Custom Record page, when done
  selecting recordings.
