What I did when I got my hdhomerun was use mythtv to scan for the channels which found some 50-60 channels. Then watch each one if it gave an error i deleted it. If it didn't give an error then I found what station it was (my cable didn't set the call signs so i had to map them myself).
The part that was a pain was when tuning a channel that gave me a blue screen when going back into livetv would tune that same channel that didn't work, so I had to change the channel real fast which would still produce the blue screen (because it was tuning the first channel). BUT, myth still logged it to the database that the channel changed meaning the next time i started livetv it would go to the next channel that may or may not work.
The whole process took a couple of hours for me to complete but now I love my hdhomerun, much better then my pchd-3000.
