[mythtv-users] Distro for MythTV, FC6 is killing me

I have frontend (mostly) working with FC6 and a ASUS M2NPV-VM using atrms repository for NVIDIA drivers and mythtv. I have not had any loading problems - still finalising ALSA though.

The system is fully updated.

  Yeap,

I have followed Jarod Wilson's and the Myth Wiki for Fedora to try and set stuff up. However the Nvidia driver just would not work. On the last reinstall this weekend, I started with a clean install of FC6. Then I did all the updates, which included a new kernel. Did the Nvidia install from the Nvidia shell script. I still had errors trying to get X working. Finally at least got out of the 800x600 mode, but on reboot it would not always load the nvidia driver, the message often said that nvidia.ko was not found. Did some searching found others had this problem because Nvidia did a kernel mod on old kernel and not new one like it should. Tried to uninstall old kernel using rpm -e, ended up with a non booting machine.

On previous install, I could get the Nvidia drivers to install and work until a reboot, at which point I would have to run the Nvidia shell script again to get the drivers working.

I have tried MythDora, but they seem to rename all the scripts such that you can not get help from generic Myth wiki, thus I could never get the A180 installed correctly. I tried KnoppMyth after the no boot this weekend, but it did not remove the grub loader that Fedora had made, as such it never booted. Also as I understand it I need Myth 0.20 for the MediaMVP, as such KnoppMyth would not work?

I am just about to the point where I am going to try Microsoft..

I have used both FC5 and FC3 with great success. Have you looked at Jarod Wilson's site?

My problem appears to be that FC6 and Nvidia drivers do not play nice, specifically I can not get the Nvidia drivers to install and work, yes I have read countless how to's and tried just about everything. I was able to get the Myth backend working, but could not get play the output.

For the main front end I hope to use a MediaMVP, which I have gotten to work with previous install attempts. Which brings up another question, does the MediaMVP support multiple rate fast forward and commercial skips, and maybe a video time line?
