Assuming the other poster's information is correct, it has been said
that Tivo will consume both tuners to achieve this by recording the
channel you are on and the one you are watching. Myth indeed does not
do this probably to preserve tuners for scheduled programming. Not to
say that this couldn't be done, it just doesn't and thus incurs a
penalty when it spins up the buffer on each channel change. I know if I
use the "Jump to Program" feature of Myth to jump between recording
programs there is no penalty so all you say is technically possible just
no one has stepped up to implement it.
