I am now totally and utterly confused about this process.

I had thought based on what I read, that the channel number is
irrelevant with a DVB based capture card. Basically as long as you have
the proper mplexid and serviceid in your channel table and the correct
frequency indtv_multiplex, you were good to go. Last night I
explicitly set Mythtv to record NCIS and House through the HD-3000. I
verified during recording that tuner # 2 was used. I thought that the
process was;

1) Myth sees scheduled recording set for DVB based card
2) It accesses channel table, grabs mplexid and serviceid
3) Does lookup on dtv_multiplex to grab proper frequency
4) Tunes to stream using the frequency and serviceid

I had also assumed that during the review process described in the WIKI,
if a broadcast was not in HD at the time of the scan, than I would be
unable to tell from the stream. I had assumed (incorrectly) that a
combination of a frequency and serviceid that displayed FOX in mplayer
was indeed the right "channel" and it was merely a matter of waiting for
an HD broadcast to begin. In reviewing the resultant recording size of
the two shows listed above , it was clear that it was not HDTV. For a
1hr show I got about 1.5GB. I would have thought it would have been
closer to 6GB

I can only conclude that I'm A - not using the correct frequency for HD
content, B - Charter in WI does not broadcast HD material unencrypted
including normal OTA channels, C- I've set up the card incorrectly in
myth-setup. Does anyone have any ideas where I may have gone wrong?
