[mythtv-users] transcode - manual command to create an avi file

What command would you do on the command line to convert a mpg to an avi
file? I assume that the avi file could be read by a divx player.

This is incomplete, but I am looking for something like the following:

transcode -i /home/mythtv/somefile.mpg -o /home/mythtv/somefile.avi
