This seems like a good test - thanks! I was thinking of the gaming 
application of many of these cards and that they must be able to do 
beyond 50 fps internally (I have a Quadro FX 500) and that the bandwidth 
to the card mustn't be any higher as it must be passing the frame 
interlaced - but your test should tell me a lot.

I have a feeling I would have tried the OpenGL vsync - as I've been 
messing around with that continuously with regard to XvMC issues as it's 
seen as a common cure.
