[mythtv-users] Odds of Linux CableCARD support?

I tend to agree; however, it does demonstrate that CableLabs is somewhat
open to working with the Linux.

Clearly, System one and two Tivos (while proprietary) were commonly hacked
-- some say with Tivo's support.  This fact could not have been lost on
CableLabs. This suggest that the door is open for someone  (Sony, Philips,
Red Hat, etc) to introduce an application that runs atop Linux, yet offers
enough security to appease CableLabs.

The CE manufacturers may not be interested in paying Microsoft a royality on
every PVR type machine that uses a CableCard. Linux would be a likely
alternative in these situations.
