Which version of MythTV are you using?

If you're using version 0.18 or older, then the
setting is within the setup program (called
mythtv-setup in some RPMs).

If you're using 0.19, then there is no such setting
anymore, because the ring buffer has been removed. 
All recordings go to your recordings directory, as
defined in the mythtv-setup program, even LiveTV.
