Ditto in spades. Mine worked much better after I straightened some pins. ;)

When I switched to the FX5200, I found it worked better with X set at
1024x768 (with TVStandard="NTSC-M"). I'd imagined 720x480 would be best,
but found several problems with 16:9 streams being chopped instead of
scaled.

Starting X with the "-logverbose 5" will produce a bunch of debug output
as the driver susses out the card, saying what resolutions are supported
for your card and TVStandard settings. Mine refused 800x600, but
supported 720x480 (badly, as mentioned) and 1024x768.
