If you have MythBrowser and a WebServer (either as MythWeb or a
standalone server) working you can display any web page you want, and
you could simply make a page available that shows what you are after.
Granted running both of these is a bit much just to show free space,
but most Myth installations have them running anyway, so it's a
matter of just adding a page to MythBrowser and creating the page
from the server.
Of course if you're copying from a different box you could just do a
df, via ssh. If you have a drive/directory mounted via NFS your
client will show you free space.
In fact, whatever method you are using to copy these files over
probably has some mechanism to show space available.
