I currently have a MythTV FE/BE system setup with a PVR-150 card and
an HD3000 card. This is a fairly new installation, and my first
experience with MythTV, so I think I still have some work to optimize
things, but overall I have things working the way I want. Before I
started working on this MythTV setup I had a WinFast TV2000 XP Expert
tv-tuner card working in another Linux box. I'm now considering
adding the card to my Myth box. I know it doesn't do hardware
encoding but thought I might get some use out of it for watching
LiveTV and using it as a lower priority card for recording in the
event of conflicts. Another side benefit is that I don't currently
have a remote control on this system and this card comes with one.
Not really a big deal because I have another frontend system that I do
most of my viewing from another system where I do have a remote.
Anyone have any experience using this card with MythTV? I searched
around the mailing list and Google, and found a smattering of hits.
However the majority of them were older posts, and I'm thinking newer
versions of Myth and/or the driver for the card (cx8800 I believe)
would handle it differently (hopefully better) than maybe some of
these older posts indicate. I'd be especially interested in hearing
from anyone using the card in conjunction with one or both of the
other cards I am already using. I'd also like to hear about how the
remote works with Myth. When I had previously looked into it the
remote was either only partially supported, or in beta status as far a
lirc was concerned. I didn't much effort into it because I had
another remote that came with an Audigy S/B card.
I certainly don't want to mess up what I currently have working, but
thought this could add some value to my setup, especially since the
card is currently just sitting around gathering dust.
