Yes it is i have got the variables to work for things like $HOMEDIR,
$LISTINGSDIR, $STATE, $TOWN etc.
But i am having trouble with the SED command. like you explained the
'.'(dot) has to be escaped by a \ for it to work. the $STATE is now seen as
the thing to search for not a variable.
I know in other programming lang the ' can be used as an escape. it was late
last night and i have not been able to figure it out yet, but i am pritty
sure it can be done.

Prob not worth it then, a round robin approch might  take the load off the
servers and slow the change of the websites etc.
