Perhaps another option is to use something like XBOXHDM - there's some
info about it at

This basically lets you copy 1 Xbox disk to another. I have used this
successfully on my soft-modded box but I'm not sure about your setup.
It sounds like your box is running linux natively rather than on top
of the XBox o/s - is that correct? If that's the case I'm out of my
depth.
