They don't only do good work they do GREAT work. MythTV is truly amazing.
But if you are a developer, and if you make something OpenSource, i think
that
you will get more help, and make the project even better if you treat people
nice.
Even if it is the 10th time you get the same question. Why even make it
OpenSource
if you dont want to help people?

They have truly helped me by making my HTPC to a very competent multimedia
frontend. And i want to help back with whatever i can. But how many times do
i have
to get my a* kicked before i get tired and dont bother anymore?
And should you really have to make patches just to get their respect and to
be able
to ask questions?

I know, i'm probably oversensitive, but some answers i have read on these
two lists
from some people is pretty rude. And i think that it is the wrong way to
treat people.
Treat them like idiots and they will remain idiots. Or try to help them in a
nice way
and some day they will help you. I dont think anyone that uses Myth is
asking
"idiot" questions because they think it is funny. They ask because they want
to learn.

I'm very new to Linux and Myth. But one thing i learned very fast when
trying to get
Linux help is that people that do know Linux is either very helpful or they
think that
they are so much better than you so they dont even bother to answer, or do
it in a
very short way.
If you cant answer in a nice way, dont even bother to answer. Eventually
some will
write a nice answer, or even no answer is better than a rude answer.

Anyway, i still dont know how tha playback group and playback settings works
together
with the internal DVD player. Something is not working there. Maybe some day
when
i throw out windows from my desktop computer i will be able to learn more
about the
internals of myth. And maybe i can give more back to the MythTV project.

But for now i can only report bugs, provide logs and try out patches. And i
can only
hope that it would be to some help.
