There's a new version of  mythburn in development that will 
automatically transcode any file that is not DVD compliant. We currently 
use ffmpeg to do the transcode. We are also trying hard to keep the 
number of dependencies to a minimum. The goal with Isaac's permission is 
for it it to become part of the mythplugins package.
