Thanks for the suggestions Kevin.  I tried removing my .asoundrc file and
tried using ALSA:default and ALSA:spdif for my audio device with no luck.  I
also checked in alsamixer and the first and last selections for the IEC958
aren't muted.  I then tried creating a new .asoundrc with just a basic entry
of:
pcm.snd-cmipci{
type hw
card 0
device 2
}
again no luck.  Any other ideas, or do you remember any other fiddling you
had to do to get it to work?
