Hi,
I'm running mythtv 18.2 on a Mandriva 2006 system.
I have been trying for months to get the Firewire
Capture
working. I have firewire ports on my Asus
motherboard.
Could not get it working and when I heard Jarod could
not get his to work, I bought a Firewire card that
was reported to work.
Still could not get it to work. Apparently the
ieee1394 drivers we are using has difficulties when
multiple firewire cards are present. So, I turned
the firewire built into my motherboard off in bios.
Unfortunately, that also disabled my gigabit ethernet
connections. I worked with Asus to get a BIOS upgrade
to fix this, so I'm ready to try again.
I have the Scientific Atlanta 3250HD ( SA3250HD ) from
Time Warner Cable in Cincinnati. I can connect the
firewire port to my TV and watch high def television
from it. So, the port is there, AND its turned on.
I connect it to my computer via the PCI firewire card.

I create a connection in mythtv-setup for firewire
using Node=0 and port=0. I pre-tune the cable box
to a high def broadcast channel ( 912 ) and try
to watch LiveTV in Myth. I get the following
in the mythbackend.log file:

Sorry for the long post. I know people have this
working. I know Time Warner in Cincinnati is
delivering content via the firewire. I just can't
get my particular installation working.
Hopefully, someone can suggest the next step. I'm
out of ideas.
Thanks,
Mike
