[mythtv-users] transcoding to flv - trouble

I would like to transcode my video to flv and have found the Wiki entry
<http://www.mythtv.info/wiki/index.php/Stream_mythtv_recordings_from_mythweb_using_flash_video>which
describes the process. No problem - except it doesn't work for me.
I am assuming a card which encodes natively to MPEG-2 is necessary. My old
Hauppauge card only allows me MPEG-4.
In the process described in the Wiki, error messages are sent to /dev/null.
But, if I enter the commands manually, I can see ffmpeg saying it doesn't
recognize .nuv files. Doesn't it? Isn't ffmpeg the engine behind
nuvexport?
Somewhere there must be a way for ffmpeg to be happier with .nuv. I just
don't know what that is.
So, I am confused and looking for any kind of guidance. I'd like to use the
Wiki solution, because this conversion can be easily run as a job, and I
like the idea of the clickable icons within mythweb leading directly to
streaming video.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
As a two day user of Myth TV (running happily on a very old AMD500), I am
very impressed with the system's elegance.
All the best,
Geoff
