[mythtv-users] No hotplug directory. Where does the firmware go?

I am trying to build a mythtv box on a new install of Ubuntu dapper
(6.04). This uses the 2.6.15 kernel and does NOT use hotplug. It
apparently uses udev instead.

I don't understand all the issues involved here, but in all of the
information online I read about putting the ivtv firmware into the
hotplug directory. So.... what if you don't have a hotplug directory?
Is there another place to put the firmware? Any ideas on how to work
with this?
