The lirc_i2c module (provided by the LIRC package) is used if you have
an IR receiver connected to a Hauppauge TV card, such as a PVR-350, in
order to use a remote control. If you are not using a remote control
with a Hauppauge card, it is unlikely you'll need the lirc_i2c module
loaded.

In order to get the blaster working you should be modprobing
lirc_serial (which should automatically pull in lirc_dev).

If you _are_ using an IR receiver with a PVR card and also want to use
a serial transmitter, you can use lirc_serial for the Tx and lirc_i2c
for the Rx. Alternatively, you can follow the losdos site and create a
separate instance of LIRC to use with the transmitter with module
names that do not conflict with LIRC.
