I am running the 2.6.15 kernel - do not use genkernel, but probably
going back to 2.6.12 soon as the bugs in .15 make my laptop pretty
useless...
Good to know 0.19 has working firewire though, although I fear that my
laptop is the culprit from what I have read. Would you mind posting
your kernel .config for relevant 1394 and multimedia sections so I can
cross check. I have been using V4L for a very long while, so I am very
familiar with the kernel options, but 1394 and BTV are both new to me -
If I had a camcorder or something, I would use it to verify, but I have
nothing firewire. Last attempt I made, I disabled 1394/ethernet support
since it was bringing up an ethernet interface that I would never use.
Anyway - I am lost - I guess if need be, I will carry my PC over there
which is less than 2 years old and test the firewire on it to alleviate
the laptop as the culprit.
Thanks for the info-
Greg
