Well the "starboard" end of "LegendTV" might need root access, but  
some users of the "port" end might have trouble running SUID root for  
various reasons like video stuttering or freezing.

There is no "perfect" solution, so the real answer is to give the  
operator a choice, the problem is that a lot of Linux "operators" do  
not understand how permissions work with udev systems, so the real  
answer devolves to "education", hence a WiKi entry.
