First, why not do it right--you can use the A/V Cable Set ( 
http://registration.hauppauge.com/webstore/hardware1.asp#av_cable ) to 
get a second S-Video/Composite input for your PVR-500.  This will give 
you a significantly better picture than using the RF-modulated output of 
your STB.  Many 500's ship with the A/V Cable Set.

But, if you don't do that, you'll need to find out why Myth isn't 
creating the recording file.  Check your backend logs.

Also, make sure you tell Myth to set the channel of the tuner to the 
channel on which the STB is outputting the signal.  You do so by 
specifying the backend setting:

Preset tuner to channel
Leave this blank unless you have an external tuner that is connected to 
the tuner input of your card.  If so, you will need to specify the 
preset channel for the signal (normally 3 or 4)
