ok, thanks for the info.  I knew I shouldn't have thrown those old 232 > 
RJ45 connectors away!

Before I buy this hardware, has anyone been successful making the double 
head IR blaster work on the D11?  I already have the IR blaster and hate 
to buy the cables if what I have will work.
