Yes, you do need the libXvMCWrapper library, although if libviaXvMC is
being built when you build Xorg, then you should get the wrapper too.
In /usr/X11R6/lib on my box, I have:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 15 Feb 27 14:11 libXvMCW.so -> libXvMCW.so.1.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 15 Feb 27 14:11 libXvMCW.so.1 -> libXvMCW.so.1.0
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 18300 Feb 27 14:11 libXvMCW.so.1.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Feb 27 14:11 libviaXvMCPro.so ->
libviaXvMCPro.so.1.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Feb 27 14:11 libviaXvMCPro.so.1 ->
libviaXvMCPro.so.1.0
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 80084 Feb 27 14:11 libviaXvMCPro.so.1.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 Feb 27 14:11 libviaXvMC.so -> libviaXvMC.so.1.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 Feb 27 14:11 libviaXvMC.so.1 -> libviaXvMC.so.1.0
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 75608 Feb 27 14:11 libviaXvMC.so.1.0
although I don't need the libviaXvMCPro.so.1.0 as I have the M10000
with CLE266 chipset. Then the file /etc/X11/XvMCConfig tells the
wrapper which XvMC library to load

3D acceleration is a whole different ballgame and needs the Unichrome
Mesa driver (unichrome_dri.so) along with LibGL.so.1.2
However, AFAIK 3D acceleration is not strictly required for Myth to work well
