Given all the negative opinions about the new LiveTV functionality, I
demand equal time.
I happen to *like* the new way of doing things. Think of it as a
browser cache for TV watching that auto-expires and gives you
complete control over how much space is used.
I don't hear people complaining about how much disk space their
browser cache takes up, it's just the way a browser works.
I can't count the number of times I'd said "I wish I had recorded
that", now I never have to worry. The new way is also closer to how a
TiVo works, for those used to that.
Even better than a Tivo, which forces a recording made from liveTV to
be maximum quality, Myth's recording will be at whatever quality
"liveTV" is but, unlike a TiVo, you can transcode to something else
for long-term storage if you wish. The best of all worlds.
You could also use the new system to check on your kid's TV viewing,
much the way you might use a browser cache to see if you need to have
a talk with them about internet sites.
I guess folks are just sometimes resistant to change, but this is a
change for the better IMHO. I think it's clear the developers agree
with me, or it wouldn't be working the way it does.
Another improvement in 0.19, thanks.
