[mythtv-users] cutting commercials

so far i've gotten mythtv working to my liking, as far as recordings go.  but 
now i want to cut commercials, and transcode to mpeg-4. so i thought you  
just tell myth tv to flag commercials, and then transcode. when i do this it  
does not pull out the commercials, am i doing something wrong?
