I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to provided that after comiling
in th fix you *DON'T* do a 'make install' but just copy the mythlcdserver
binary across. You'll need the complete mythtv source tree in order to get
the 'configure' scripts which create the Makefile(s) and do a 'make' as
per normal then 'cp programs/mythlcdserver/mythlcdserver /usr/bin' from
the top level mythtv source tree to wherever your binaries normally live.
Perhaps rename the old one to keep it safe would be a good idea as well.
In fact, even the latest SVN version should work, its just that you won't
be able to enable the new features (big digit clock) but the keypad
registration fixes should work. Perhaps this is something to work up to
though - start off with the patch to the existing version you are using.
