[mythtv-users] How long should a mythdvd perfect rip take?

Hello -
I'm writing to inquire about how long (on average) it requires for people
to do a "perfect rip" via MythDVD. The reason I ask is because I believe
that I was able to do this via an older 0.18 version of myth in roughly 20
minutes. I've since rebuilt this system (though kept the hardware the same)
and now that I'm running a recent version of myth (and mythplugins) checked
out from the svn trunk, It's taking between 65-75 minutes to do a perfect
rip. Obviously my metrics aren't exact and the software load has changed
substantially, but I was just hoping I could get some feedback as to how
long it is taking others to get a perfect rip of a full-lenght dvd? I
presume most dvd's these days are dual-layer, if that narrows down the
feedback at all. If this is the same performance others are getting for
this type of DVD drive, then I can stop worrying this issue and move on to
other things!

Just to provide some insight into my system, here are the specs that might
be considered pertinent:

   - DVD Drive - Lite-On 1683S. I've read numerous places on the web
that these drives can only effectively read a dual-layer DVD a 8x. I belive
8x means 8*150Kbytes per second, which is 1.2Mbytes per second. Doing
the math, that means it would/should take 100+ minutes to read a 6-8Gig
DVD. This doesn't seem correct, so surely my logic is wrong.
   - My machine is running FC4 with 2.6.16-1.2115_FC4. All software
EXCEPT for myth is running at the latest version (as of 6/25/06) via a yum
   upgrade.
   - machine is writing to an LVM that is a hetergenous combination of
SATA and IDE drives. This concerned me at first, but I've done timing tests
with 'dd' and don't see any difference writing the data from DVD to
/dev/null or the mythvideo mount point.
   - I've included the output below attained from running cdrecord to
dump params as well my dd tests below.

Thank you in advance for any information you may be able to provide.

thanks, doug.
