It's not useless, they just finally enacted 5C on the premium channels 
like HBO and Showtime, at least in Orange County. ABC, NBC, Fox, etc all 
still work for me in HD. QAM has always been like this, and it still 
continues to work for me, though now I can no longer record Deadwood =( 
I have their HD PVR, compared to myth it's a clunker, painful and buggy 
to use at best.

I can't really help with QAM setup, since it's changed greatly from when 
I did it. You no longer have to set everything up manually in the 
database, it has it's own scanner which supposedly works pretty well. I 
haven't tried the PCHDTV 5k series cards, but the 3k works great for me. 
More reliable and better results than the firewire connection, at least 
for me.
