Oh yeah, and while I am on the transcode topic...

a) The two audio choices seem to be mp3 (where I have gotten sound
sync issues) and uncompressed. Any way to do a pass-through copy of
the audio codec (typically mp2)

b) Due to the presence of transcode problems -- be they audio sync or
getting the wrong transcode, a "keep the old copy around" mode might
be handy. To do that, I would create a new recorded entry for the
old copy, with an autoexpire value that's very high (making it the first
thing to autoexpire if needed) and perhaps rewrite the description or
some other flag on it. Makes it easier to retry transocde experiments
too.

c) As you probably know, deinterlacing and transcoding movies is special
because you want to do reverse telecine. The movies are really at 24fps
and ideally you want something like a 24fps 720p file out of them if
your TV is 720p. Any thoughts here?

Adding extra profiles seems a must with HDTV.
