1. Stop myth processes
2. Backup mysql
3. Backup the OS
4. Reinstall using FC5 (including mysql-server)
5. Patch OS
6. Add 3rd party repos to yum config
7. Restore database
8. Install myth
9. Tweak settings to what they were before, relying on your backup for
config items, cron jobs, scripts, etc... (things like
modprobe.conf, .asoundrc, .mplayer/config...)
Assuming that your recordings are on a different partition than your OS
drive, you should be okay. FWIW, I'm migrating my MBE from FC3-x86_64
to FC5-x86_64 right now. I'm currently on step 3. I'm hoping to get it
done today so that I can still get tomorrow's World Cup matches... ;)
