I'm afraid that I don't know about Ubuntu, since I use
Fedora Core 5, which still uses hotplug.

That said, you need the "Bluebird" firmware, which can
be found in a few places, but there is a script in the
Linux kernel source called "get_dvb_firmware".  It's
actually in the "Documentation" directory, so it may
already be installed elsewhere in Ubuntu.
