I can't figure out if you're saying it doesn't properly install (which 
was my original understanding) or that it's installed properly but not 
found.  I'm continuing under the assumption that it's not installing 
properly but you manually copied files over...

If you build with a user who has QTDIR and PATH properly specified, the 
build completes.  If you then su/sudo/ksu/whatever to root and root does 
not have the QTDIR and/or PATH properly specified, make install looks 
like it works, but doesn't properly install a large portion of the build.

This is not a Myth bug.  This is a build (user) error.

Also, do as Robin suggested with /etc/ld.so.conf and ldconfig.  The 
dynamic loader will only search in /lib and /usr/lib directories by 
default, so any other directory containing libs should be listed in 
ld.so.conf.
