Yeah, now you mention it, the card does have analogue inputs. Do you know if
*any* DVB-T receiver can cope with HD content, or only ones which have been
designed to. I might have to get a DVB-S receiver then, but they are very
scarce. Anyway, haven't managed to generate a working modeline, once I do
though, playback should look better.

It's a highly aggressive compression codec, under the MPEG4 banner I
believe.  I guess it could be applied to Standard Definition signals
but it comes into it's own for HD.

I need to be carefull what I say because I don't know anything about
your Fusion tuner.  However, as I understand it digital transmissions
are always encoded (it would make no sense to broadcast uncompressed
video) and [all?] digital capture cards simply preserve the encoding
when they save to disk.  That's why my DVB card can capture both MPEG2
and MPEG4 streams.

Analog transmissions on the other hand must be encoded before they are
saved to disk and this is where the different card types come in.
Some cards have hardware encoding built in, others rely on the CPU to
do the work.

Maybe your card also has an analog input (S-video or Tuner) ?

The BBC are offering a schedule HD service via satellite (DVB-S)
across the UK.  They are also broadcasting some unscheduled HD content
from the Crystal Palace Transmitter in London.  This is what I have
captured. Playback however remains an issue.

Actually, browsing digitalspy, it looks like the BBC have given away
some freeview set top boxes for the HD trial in London,  so maybe they
are scheduling programmes?
