[mythtv-users] setup problems

Greetings
I did follow the instructions (cut & paste) for a single machine as far
as I can tell, but will try again. I cannot find an uninstall option to
enable me to start again from scratch. What would be the best way to
make sure I clear out anything that might give trouble

Oops. Guess that's only in SVN. Anyway, if it's your first install, 
that's not the problem, so it wouldn't have helped, anyway.

How are you doing the install? Something is broken in your install. If 
you're building it yourself, make sure you don't miss any steps (like 
the configure) in the installation process: 
http://mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-5.html#ss5.4
