[mythtv-users] upgrading from ( FC4 + apt-get ) to FC5

Hi,

so I took courage and started the procedure on one of the mythboxes.
I'm halfway and following your suggested steps but (as expected)
there are troubles... here follows what is happening:

> This only happens when the installer gets half-way killed

OK. I made room on the disk (3 Gigs) so it wouldn't die
during the procedure due to out of space.

> o CD in

I put in the FC5 DVD

> o Upgrade
> o CD out

OK, it went smooth till here. Then I rebooted, and did a:
        rpm -qa | grep [Ff][Cc]4 | wc
It says that 143 fc4 packages are still there.
They are mostly mythtv related packages so OK, the FC5 DVD
couldn't upgrade those.

> o Fix the depsolver's config files

I went to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/
tehre are two files: atrpms.list  base.list
I edited both them and changed any reference to "fc4" with "fc5"

> o Let the depsolver upgrade the rest of your system.

I did:
        apt-get update
then
        apt-get -f install

and look what it says:

  librpm4.4 (due to apt)
14 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 1 replaced, 4 removed and 278 not upgraded.
Need to get 67.3MB of archives.
After unpacking 15.5MB disk space will be freed.

This is exactly the problem I had experienced with FC2->FC3 upgrade and
also with FC3->FC4 upgrade, that  I wished to avoid.

I followed your instructions literally, as reported above,
so I am quite surprised I am the only one reporting this.
Since FC2->FC3 upgrade, it happened me every time I tried it,
on every PC I tried it.  It should affect thousands persons.

However, can you suggest me how to exit this sort-of deadlock
without seriously break this machine?
