It's more the error-prone-ness of it---I have several sources, and
automation that depends on how they're numbered, and will need to
make sure everything gets replaced correctly. I'll try
--do_channel_updates and see if it helps, and then delete & replace
everything if it doesn't, but I'm somewhat surprised that Myth doesn't
cope gracefully with this situation at all.
(Just running mythfilldatabase w/no args just took me 8 minutes, btw,
on a fast connection---it appearently did a daily fetch for all 13
days times 3 input sources, which was not what I expected, and then
-still- didn't provide any new data for either today or the 19th on
channels 71 & 72. Weird. In fact, running it seems a total no-op.)
(And I can't do any of this soon because I have upcoming recordings
about to start and then will be away from the box for a few days and
am unwilling to possibly break it right now.)
