This is exactly why I don't really agree with the KnoppMyth project.  
It's goal of making an easy to install version of Myth is nice but not 
too realistic because eventually something will happen and you will not 
know where to start, except reinstall.  I was in this same situation, I 
installed KnoppMyth ( which is very nice and convenient ) but something 
happened and I had no idea what to do.  So, I started a complete install 
with Ubuntu so I could get to know the 'guts' a little better and avoid 
clogging up the user list with questions and problems.
