I have used gentoo in the past. I have been using Fedora Core 4 since
april on all of my myth machines
and am really impressed atrpms the mythtv fedora rpm repository.

Some of my friends just starting out are using Knoppmyth and really
appreciate how easy it is to install. They have said Knoppmyth is really
great for learning your way around myth for one reason, if they hosed
their configuration or device drivers it took literally 10 minutes to
using the knoppmyth install and start over rather than debugging for who
knows how long.

Good luck.
