KVER is just a variable, you can also write

KVER=2.6.15-1.1831_FC4
smart install ivtv-kmdl-$KVER nvidia-graphics8178-kmdl-$KVER

If kernel 2.6.15-1.1831_FC4 has not already been installed, smart will
detect this and install it, as the packages above have dependencies to
that kernel. So nothing more is needed.
