# yum install alsa-kmdl-`uname -r`, though ATrpms only has version 1.0.10 (but 
it could still fix your particular issue).

So many different drivers and sound cards out there, I'm not that surprised.

See above re: yum installable alsa. I doubt an asoundrc is going to fix this 
problem.
