Chris:

based on your comment, I bumped the priority of mythbackend from its
default 15 to -19, and cxx-dvb (or whatever it is) to -15. I recorded
another episode of Nova. I only got to watch about 20 minutes of it so
far between kids pizza and wine, but so far, no choppiness.

It may have been my backend.... It's an old PIII 1 GHz SMP box that
works as a web server, myth backend, MySQL server for the website
(pretty heavy load), commercial rsync, imap, etc., as well as
mythbacked. It's not unusual for it to peg both CPUs at 60-90% for
extended periods of time. (Yes I should upgrade, but I have other
things to spend $$$ money on....)

So I don't know (yet) if it was file corruption on capture or
playback.... More testing to follow.
