Hi,
I have just released the initial version of AMICUS.
It is an automatic installer of MythTV on the Debian
GNU/Linux operating system. From the AMICUS home
page:
"Automatic Multimedia Installation Configuration
Utility System helps you easily install and configure
MythTV using standard Debian GNU/Linux on generic low
end PC hardware. Emphasis is on minimal installs to
provide you the best performance."
http://amicus.sourceforge.net/
The projects primary goal is to help new users (to
GNU/Linux and MythTV) get their PVR systems up and
running quickly, easily, and reliably. The user
follows easy to use instructions and a menu based
procedure to install and configure MythTV. It is
specifically designed for older and low end PCs but
will work on any PC hardware supported by Debian.
This is an initial release and all the primary
functions to install MythTV are known working. Future
versions will broaden the specific support for other
PVR related hardware (improving ivtv, bttv, LIRC, etc)
and add some additional functionality such as
automatic clock synchronization and automatic MythTV
on boot. Early pre-releases of the 0.02 version
contain these and other features in development.
Please consider the AMICUS script next time you
install MythTV on that older PC or help a new user.
Users, Testers, and Developers are all welcome to join
in the project which is graciously hosted by the good
people at Sourceforge.net. I very much appreciate
your feedback on this project.

Thank you.
